What is a Ministry?
The term Ministry in its purest sense comes from the Greek term diakonia, which means to serve. In the Christian context, it is a service to God and to other people in His name.
The Franciscan Friars who make up the Holy Spirit Province are involved in numerous ministries - whether visible in the wider community or a more personal one. These ministries are an expression of each friar's gifts and passion to serve others.
Each friar's charism is manifested through his individual ministry. While each ministry is unique, the ones which are most visible in the community fall into the categories of: parishes, education, chaplaincies, social outreach, retreat centres and international missions.
